Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria and Israel have taken a significant step forward in strengthening their diplomatic and strategic relations, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to expanded cooperation in security, healthcare, agriculture, and innovation.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, met with Israeli Ambassador Michael Freeman on Thursday to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the two nations. The discussion covered a range of strategic interests, including defence and intelligence collaboration, economic partnerships, and consular relations.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was Israel’s plan to donate 50-60 fully equipped ambulances to Nigeria, with an initial batch of 3-4 units already on the way. This initiative is expected to boost Nigeria’s emergency healthcare services and save countless lives.

“Nigeria is committed to strengthening cooperation with Israel in border security management, particularly in the fight against insurgency and terrorism,”
The two countries are also looking to collaborate on technology, agriculture, and innovation. Israel is offering agricultural technology transfer to enhance Nigeria’s food security, and both nations are interested in expanding cooperation on border management technology, innovation, and digital solutions.
Ambassador Freeman described Nigeria as a strategic partner for Israel, citing the country’s large population and growing economy. “This is a significant package to save lives,” he said, underscoring Israel’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s emergency response system.
The renewed engagement reflects an enduring partnership built on shared interests, mutual respect, and a common commitment to security, development, and innovation. As Nigeria and Israel move forward, it’s clear that their relationship is poised for a new phase of tangible impact across critical sectors.
