DSS Arrests Suspect Over Attack on Peter Obi in Edo

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspect, Udeme Sunday Stephen, in connection with the February 24 attack on 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City, Edo State.

According to reports by Channels Television, the arrest followed a thorough investigation by the secret police.

The incident occurred during a visit by Obi and ADC leaders to former Edo State Governor, John Oyegun. Armed hoodlums reportedly opened fire shortly after the delegation left the ADC headquarters in the state.

A video that later circulated online showed vehicles and the estate gate riddled with bullet holes. Speaking in the footage, Obi confirmed that the attack happened moments after their departure from the party’s office.

Further details are expected as investigations continue.
