A Federal High Court in Abuja adjourned Omoyele Sowore’s court case today due to the judge’s absence. Sowore, a Nigerian activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, was supposed to face trial over allegedly making defamatory remarks against President Bola Tinubu.
The case couldn’t proceed, with Sowore’s lawyer requesting certain documents be admitted as evidence. However, the judge ruled they couldn’t be tendered through the prosecution’s witness.
Earlier, Justice Mohammed Umar barred Sowore from making statements detrimental to national peace and security, threatening to revoke his bail if he did so. Sowore is accused of calling President Tinubu a “criminal” in social media posts.
