Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal), Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), has directed commanders across the Nigerian Navy to intensify operations using intelligence and technology to protect Nigeria’s territorial waters and combat maritime crime.

CNS Sets Vision for a Modern, Agile Navy
Four months into his tenure, Vice Admiral Abbas engaged Flag Officers, operational commanders, and logistics chiefs at Naval Headquarters to recalibrate naval operations under the Total Spectrum Maritime Strategy. His goal: a professional, agile, and technologically advanced Navy capable of safeguarding national maritime interests in partnership with other security agencies.

Operational Wins Highlight Intelligence-Driven Approach
The CNS lauded the Navy’s Operation DELTA SENTINEL and other initiatives, emphasizing intelligence-led and tech-driven successes that have: Seized stolen crude oil, Destroyed illegal refining sites, Arrested illegal bunkerers, Improved search-and-rescue operations. “These achievements have led to zero piracy in Nigerian waters, boosted oil production, and saved the nation billions of Naira,” he said.

Collaboration & Counterterrorism Efforts Applauded
Vice Admiral Abbas commended the Navy’s contributions to counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations across the country. He urged commanders to sustain operational momentum and maintain strong collaboration with sister security agencies, ensuring that all presidential expectations are met.
