Ground Troops, Air Strikes Crush ISWAP Attacks Across Borno, Commander Killed

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have repelled coordinated ISWAP attacks in Borno, targeting military positions at Njimtilo, Baga, Buratai, and Damboa.

Ground troops, supported by air strikes from the Air Component and Nigerian Army Aviation, stopped the attacks and forced the fighters to retreat.

Troops Repel Early Morning Assaults

The attacks began in the early hours of Monday. ISWAP fighters advanced from different directions, hoping to overrun military positions.

However, troops on the ground were ready. They engaged the attackers with accurate fire and strong defence, stopping their advance.

At Ajiri Cross near Njimtilo, soldiers detected the movement early and responded quickly. As a result, the attackers were pushed back and scattered.

Air Strikes Support Ground Forces

At the same time, air support played a key role. The Air Component and Nigerian Army Aviation carried out targeted strikes on the attackers.

These strikes disrupted their formation and made it harder for them to escape.

Because of this coordination, troops gained full control of the situation.

Commander Killed, Weapons Recovered

During the fighting in Buratai, troops killed a key ISWAP commander. Several other fighters were also neutralised, while many fled with injuries.

After the clashes, troops carried out follow-up operations. They recovered:

3 PKT machine guns

7 AK-47 rifles

206 rounds of PKT ammunition

418 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition

3 RPG bombs

3 motorcycles

Troops also found 7 bodies, while fleeing fighters buried about 20 others.

ISWAP Attacks in Borno Weakened

These failed ISWAP attacks in Borno show that the group is under pressure.

Security efforts have reduced their ability to launch successful operations.

Meanwhile, Operation HADIN KAI says all affected areas remain under control. Residents are advised to stay alert and ignore false reports.
