President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent Maiduguri attacks, describing them as desperate attempts by terrorists to spread fear.
He extended condolences to the families of the victims and assured the injured of government support. At the same time, he reaffirmed his administration’s solidarity with the people of Borno State.
The President stressed that the attacks will not weaken Nigeria’s resolve. Instead, he said they show that terrorist groups are under increasing pressure from ongoing military operations.
Troops Repel Maiduguri Attacks
The attacks, which occurred on Monday, targeted military positions within Maiduguri.
However, Nigerian troops responded swiftly and repelled the assaults.
As a result, the attackers failed to gain ground. Security sources say the quick response prevented further casualties and destruction.
President Tinubu praised the bravery of the armed forces and civilian task forces. He noted that their efforts remain critical to maintaining security in Borno State and beyond.
Tinubu Approves More Security Support
Meanwhile, the President approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies.
He made this decision after meeting with security and intelligence chiefs last weekend.
Importantly, the government has already started deploying the new resources. Officials expect this move to improve surveillance, strengthen response time, and boost counter-terrorism operations.
Security Chiefs Move to Maiduguri
Additionally, President Tinubu directed top security officials to relocate to Maiduguri immediately.
They will now coordinate operations directly from the ground.
At the same time, emergency agencies are providing urgent medical care to victims. Authorities are also supporting affected families.
“Terrorists Will Find No Safe Haven”
President Tinubu insisted that Nigeria remains committed to defeating terrorism.
“We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them. Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he said.
Renewed Push Against Terrorism
Although the Maiduguri attacks highlight ongoing challenges in Borno State, authorities say the situation remains under control.
Furthermore, military operations across the North-East continue to pressure insurgent groups. Recent offensives have disrupted their movements and reduced their strength.
Therefore, officials believe the latest attacks are isolated attempts to create panic—not signs of renewed power.
