Air Force Boss Reinforces Security of Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Assets in Port Harcourt Visit

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has reinforced the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to safeguarding the country’s oil and gas assets during a strategic visit to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Aneke commissioned critical infrastructure projects, including a modern briefing room complex, and inspected operational facilities at the 115 Special Operations Group (115 SOG), the home of the NAF’s combat helicopters.

He emphasized that modern infrastructure is key to sustaining high operational standards, saying, “modern and functional infrastructure remain essential to sustaining high operational standards and effective mission execution.”

The CAS also met with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, who reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the NAF’s presence in the region. The governor acknowledged the NAF’s role in protecting strategic national assets and combating economic sabotage in the Niger Delta.

Aneke commended the state’s contributions, including the handover of an Agusta 139 helicopter and the rehabilitation of the runway and aprons at NAF Base Port Harcourt.

The visit aimed to strengthen operational readiness, improve personnel welfare, and assess frontline capabilities across NAF units.
