Heroes Never Die: OPHK Commander Honors Fallen Soldiers in Maiduguri

Maiduguri, Borno State – In a solemn ceremony at Maimalari Military Cantonment Cemetery, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), paid tribute to officers and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the nation. Their deaths, he said, are a “painful reminder of the true cost of service.”

Major General Abubakar praised the troops for their courage, loyalty, and selflessness, assuring families that their sacrifices would never be in vain. “These patriots gave their lives for the nation, the people, and the ideals they swore to protect. Their bravery and dedication will never be forgotten,” he said.

Representing Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, Alhaji Mustapha Ali Yabe extended condolences and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting both the families of fallen heroes and the military.

The ceremony drew senior military officers, top government officials, and grieving families, all united in honoring the bravery of Nigeria’s finest. As one family member noted, “Their sacrifice will inspire us to be better.”
