Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Hadin Kai have successfully thwarted a terrorist assault on a military position in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, restoring control after a swift and decisive counter-offensive.
The attack, launched on March 3, 2026, targeted troops stationed in the community.
Reinforcement teams from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and 151 Battalion were immediately deployed to support the embattled soldiers.
During the advance, a leading Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), damaging two tyres. Undeterred, the troops pressed on, demonstrating resilience and determination to hold the line.
A special reinforcement team led by Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, Commander of 26 Task Force Brigade, Gwoza, under Sector 1 of Operation Hadin Kai, arrived and coordinated a counter-attack that successfully forced the terrorists to retreat.
Troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) barrel from fleeing insurgents. Meanwhile, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai provided heavy air support, neutralising scores of terrorists and crippling their operational capability in the area.
Brigadier General Abdullahi praised the troops for their gallantry and resilience, urging sustained aggressive operations to further degrade terrorist elements operating in the region.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action across the North-East, ensuring lasting peace, security, and economic stability.
Morale among the troops remains high as operations continue.
