Nigerian Army Launches 2026 Manual Wargaming Workshop to Boost Tactical Commanders

MINNA, NIGERIA — The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army on 10th March 2026 officially kicked off its 2026 Capacity Building Workshop on Manual Wargaming at the HQ TRADOC NA Auditorium, Minna Military Cantonment, Niger State.

Dubbed Exercise GAFILI GADOKI III, the workshop aims to enhance operational proficiency and decision-making skills of tactical commanders within a joint and multi-agency operational environment. Themed “Consolidating Tactical Commanders’ Proficiency on Manual Wargaming for Effective Decision-Making in Nigerian Army Training and Operations,” the initiative supports the Chief of Army Staff’s (COAS) transformation agenda to build a professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient Nigerian Army.

In his opening remarks, Commander TRADOC NA, Major General Peter Malla, said: “This workshop is strategically designed to strengthen our training methodologies and operational capabilities, ensuring commanders are fully equipped to make effective decisions in complex operational environments.”

Major General Malla also expressed appreciation to COAS Lieutenant General W. Shaibu (Nigerian Army Medal) for his visionary leadership, which continues to drive the transformation and modernization of the Nigerian Army. The Commander concluded by urging participants — including formation commanders and resource persons — to actively engage and enrich the workshop, reinforcing tactical excellence across the force .
