CSO Demands Investigation, Arrest of Alleged Sponsors of Campaign Against Benjamin Kalu

A civil society organisation, Save Nigeria Movement, has called on security agencies to investigate and arrest individuals allegedly behind what it described as a coordinated campaign of calumny against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.

The group made the demand during a media briefing in Abuja, urging authorities to identify those responsible for spreading defamatory allegations against the lawmaker.

The controversy follows a petition reportedly authored by John Aikpokpo-Martins and addressed to the Legal Practitioners’ Disciplinary Committee and the National Youth Service Corps, requesting a review of Kalu’s professional qualifications and national service history.

The organisation also alleged that some politicians in Abia State were unsettled by Kalu’s rising political profile and perceived governorship ambition ahead of future elections.

It called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure accountability for anyone found culpable.

Speaking at the briefing, the group’s convener, Solomon Semanka, urged relevant authorities to treat the matter with urgency to curb the spread of misinformation and protect public confidence in public office holders.
