News Update:

Fresh details have emerged on the multiple explosions that rocked Maiduguri, Borno State, with authorities confirming significant casualties.

The Borno State Police Command said the blasts, which occurred at about 7:24 p.m., were carried out by suspected suicide bombers at Monday Market, the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) gate, and the Post Office Flyover.

Preliminary findings indicate that 23 people were killed, while 108 others sustained varying degrees of injuries and have been evacuated for treatment by emergency responders, including NEMA and SEMA.

Security operatives, including police tactical units and the military, were swiftly deployed to the affected areas, which were immediately secured and swept by explosive disposal teams to prevent further threats.

Security has since been reinforced across the city, with increased surveillance to prevent further incidents. Investigations are ongoing.
