The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has praised The Daily Times newspaper as a flagship of Nigerian journalism, citing its enduring legacy in shaping media practice and democratic discourse in Nigeria. Established in 1926, The Daily Times has been a training ground for top journalists and media professionals, setting standards in investigative reporting, editorial excellence, and professional integrity.
Akume made the commendation during a courtesy visit by The Daily Times Publisher, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, and his delegation in Abuja. The visit was part of The Daily Times’ centenary celebrations, marking 100 years of quintessential journalism.
As part of the celebrations, The Daily Times has unveiled a monument called “Nigerian Souvenir,” a compendium showcasing Nigeria’s journey, progress, and achievements. The publication, with a foreword by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aims to reshape global perceptions of Nigeria and create a repository of the country’s sovereignty, heritage, and culture.
