Troops Repel ISWAP Attacks in Borno, Deal Heavy Blow to Terrorists

The Nigerian military’s Operation HADIN KAI has dealt a significant blow to ISWAP terrorists, foiling coordinated attacks on three locations in Borno State and recovering a cache of heavy arms and ammunition.According to reports, troops stationed at Forward Operating Bases Mayanti, Gajigana, and Gajiram came under intense attack from heavily armed terrorists on the night of February 28 and early hours of March 1, 2026.

However, the soldiers held their ground, repelling the attacks and inflicting heavy casualties on the enemy. At Mayanti, troops fought off the attackers, killing five terrorists and recovering three PKT automatic anti-aircraft guns, two RPG-7 tubes, and several AK-47 rifles.

In Gajiram, three terrorists were killed, and equipment including an armed drone, anti-tank bombs, and AK-47 rifles were recovered.

The operations also led to the neutralization of two terrorists, the arrest of two logistics suppliers, and the destruction of life-support structures in Kayawa Village. The military’s swift response and bravery ensured that the areas remained under their control, despite the loss of an officer and a wounded soldier.

The success of the operation underscores the military’s commitment to protecting civilians and eradicating terrorism in the region.
